The real challenge was to enable comfort within the space devoid of natural lighting. The space was originally intended to serve the function of a storage and installation room. Once the construction and installation system were defined, the features of the space appeared. It became possible to divide its function in two levels and to vary the height of the space for up to 30 cm in some parts. The existence of such possibilities led to the final solution. Delevelling the ceiling enabled the creation of the “flowing space” that at the same time served to solve multiple technical problems. The wavy roof serves not only to hide the installations, but it also opens up the space. The ceiling of the gym was done in natural wood that pervades the space with the feeling of warmth. Independent sections of the ceiling are wavy in order to support and at the same time emphasize the different directions and heights of existing and new installations. This kind of solution renders the impression of the bigger space because it creates the feeling of endless space above the visitor. All the other elements that make up the space emerged out of the functional needs and their aesthetic quality is pure and in the service of the user. The space consists of two levels - Upper level (80 m²) - entrance and fitness hall, clean and bright space occupied by gym members - Lower level (130m²) - entrance area (10m²), dressing room (40m²) and gym (80m²) The levels are connected with the staircase that also serves to open up the space with the use of mirrors, light and movement. The entrance area at the end of the line of movement is the place of encounter and the focal point of communication. The visual connection between the gym and the rest of the space is realized through the use of the glass panel. Despite the fact that the space was demanding, it was turned into a functional, spacious and bright gym that provides a feeling of comfort and convenience to its users, which was the main goal of this design.
