A New office of method Inc., led by retail buyer and creative director Yu Yamada,
Method refers to a system, a procedure, a process, and an order. The company’ s name represents their strong commitment to providing methodical solutions to each individual project and commission, and it is this idea that is reflected in their new office space, (PLACE) by method.
In its new, 155 square-meter space, method's office sits adjacent to their gallery, with both areas embracing a sense of openness - a reflection of the notion that everything they generate will immediately be delivered to the visitors. The minimal, yet functional space can be adjusted to suit various uses. The previously well-worn floor has been covered with mortar and rises up in certain sections to create benches, tables and signs, as well as partitioning the gallery and office areas.
Along the wall, the mortar forms a low edging, allowing flat objects of various materials, shapes and sizes to be installed against the wall. Depending on how the space is used, these objects - both practical and seemingly useless - can be used in various configurations or removed altogether. With its fluid and adaptive nature, the space is evident of the company’ s dedication to producing rich and diverse propositions.
A “place” that will never be completed, (PLACE) by method's interior is constantly changing, questioning the idea of an office whereby function is a only a fraction of its existence.
