Vivienda de Patron

The architecture of the project is derived from a spatial principle called ‘Vivienda de Patron’ (housing pattern/housing for the boss). The system aims to combine into one synthetic formula the requirements of affordable housing with an architecture that can play a contextual role. The aim is to suggest an architecture that can mediate between different contextual elements such as big modern hospital, an informal settlement Principe Alfonso composed of compact volumes, topographic differences and great views to the Mediterranean Sea. Vivienda de Patron uses the labyrinth street pattern of the informal settlement at the ground level to create a subtle transition between public and collective space. A second degree of collective spaces is provided by collective terraces at levels 1 and 2, this is also follows the neighbor settlement lifestyle of outdoor activities. The use of compact volumes is systematized in the scheme to achieve affordability while preserving its advantages and luxury of corner views. The overall scheme is placed into a grid of 16.4 x 16.4 allowing each piece to settle at different levels to adapt to the topography. A generic underground parking slab accommodates garage and housing storage while serving also as structural stabilizer.
