Dinaric Alps are the most wild part of nature in Europe, nowadays. Therefore, these roughly mountains, are favorite tourist destination for all habitants of former Yugoslavia. Ski resorts, like Durmitor, Igman or Zlatibor, are well known among local tourist visitirs. Analysing local tourist market, was not difficult task, as luxory hotels are not well accepted in local sustainable tourism. Instead of high equipment level hotels, small traditional family friednly cabins are much more popular.
The main design goal was to make the contemporary modern look small cabins, which certain quality standards. Also, a lot of people, like to stay in mountains, for 1-2 months, or even whole winter, from November until the April. That is why, these cabins are made and designed more like residentail cabins, than tourist ones.
Since design process beginning, it was very clear that traditional and equable design would be required in order to correspond to the unique and roughly surroundings of the Dinaric Alps.
The building process, material resourcing and everyday usage of the cabins had to have small or no impact at all, on the very preserved environment of these mountains.
The prefabricated design and building, was the only logical way to go, after taking everything into account. For making costs even lower, we decided to make 3 similar modules of the cabins, called simply L, XL and XXL. This decision allowed us to use same or similar construction elements in all tree cabins. The whole design process of the cabins emerges from the optimization of ordinary materials available on the local market, like wood and stone, etc...The prefabrication process was done in local wood treatment workshops, and forwarded by big trucks to the site. Less waste of material, was the main goal.
The cabins have a mutual rainwater collection system, which stores and treats the water for the re-usage in the cabins. Water from local the network is only used in case this supply runs out. This avoids the over-consumption of a water resource, even Dinaric Alps are well supplied with water. The solar panels for hot water, located on each cottage's roof, for avoiding the use of gas or electricity, is optional choice.
The sum areas of size of cabins are, L- 67m2, XL - 97m2, XXL - 135m2
