Linnaeusborg
The building is part of the University campus of Groningen located within the Zernike complex. Despite the extensive programme the design is highly functional. The building is designed as a zigzagging reptile rising from the ground and opening up to the campus. The sightlines accentuate the open space rather than the mass of the building. The three research fields of the Centre for Life Sciences make up the buildings form and are housed within the two wings and bridge.
The basic principles for the internal organisation of the building are interaction, dynamism and flexibility. The mix of laboratories, offices and ancillary areas organised around circulation circuits result in a practical and dynamic whole.
