Hauser Plads is a square in the centre of Copenhagen. The square features a recreational landscape formed by green ‘recreation hills’.
The former underground car park beneath the Hauser Plads is transformed into the head office of the Centre for Cleaning, which is the base for the city’s 75 street cleaners plus storage space for street cleaning vehicles. Facilities will include showers, changing rooms, a canteen and parking spaces. Moreover, offices and a meeting area are housed here, these have to provide a pleasant working environment for their users. Construction of a patio at cellar level, allows natural light to enter and creates an outdoor area for the employees, making a direct connection with the recreational landscape above. The patio’s curved glass walls maximise the views from the indoor working area. The garden is an extension of the workspace. Various types of planting change their colour and texture throughout the seasons, and the flagstone paving area creates places for rest breaks whilst serving as an outdoor workplace.
