Holland Park house, to me, was about the silent simplicity of rhythm, reflections and textures, as well as the composition of nature and light in space. It was the bridging of the external and the internal environments, and filling the interiors with natural light and views, so that the architecture and the environment became part of the interior space.
Not only is the entrance courtyard the central axis of the house, it also serves to organize the house both horizontally and vertically. The play of textures, reflection and transparency provides sensorial experience to the space.
The use of glass separates the different areas physically, as well as provides visual continuity throughout the space. Its reflective qualitives give the illusion of the infinite.
